Boxer of the Tournament at the recently concluded revived OECS Boxing Championships won by St Lucia. British based heavyweight boxer Ryan Charles, has continued his good form in England.
Charles fighting for his club The Islington Boxing Club on a Small Holdings ABC Show at the Tooting and Mitcham Football Club in Surrey, had an excellent victory over 2013 London ABA Finalist Tyrone Williams at the weekend.
Charles fighting at Cruiserweight under 86 kg had a first round knockout of his opponent. He caught him with a right hand and left hook which floored his opponent late into the first round. The referee called a halt to the contest, as it was clear that Williams would not make the count. Williams was consulted by the ringside doctor and made a full recovery.
It was Charles’ first outing since representing St Lucia at the OECS Boxing Championships, where he was crowned OECS Heavyweight Boxing Champion after two stoppages against a Vincentian and Grenadian opponent.
Charles says he is working hard preparing for the upcoming Creole Boxing Championships to be held here from July 24-28, as he is expected to return home to represent St Lucia once again.
