Mom and Kwéyòl Author, Huanna Leon has launched her second Kwéyòl Children’s Colouring and Activity Book!
Sak Sa Ankó – The “Toulé Jou” Edition is the second book in the Sak Sa Series. The author says, “The Colouring and Activity books are created to expose our children, from a tender age, to our Kwéyòl language”.
Sak Sa Ankò – The “Toulé Jou” Edition teaches Kwéyòl vocabulary for common English words by providing the English word, its Kwéyòl translation, an example of its use in a sentence and pronunciation prompts. It is the Author’s hope that equipping our children with knowledge and guides for the correct pronunciation of these words will empower and embolden them to use our Creole language in everyday conversations with their friends, teachers and family.
Our Kwéyòl language is a major part of our heritage that we should ensure that we pass on to our children. This second instalment of Sak Sa is aimed at children ages 5-8. It includes activities such as crossword puzzles, word searches and, of course, colouring! Overall, it is fun and engaging for both parents and children alike!
The Author, Huanna Leon is young mother of two who sees the immense value of wholesome education for our children- a focus on academics, practical skills, and cultural knowledge is necessary for our children to become well balanced members of society. She also deeply values our St. Lucian traditions and culture and is seeking to immortalize these through her creative works.
The book is 100% St. Lucian – it was illustrated by Cassell Paul, cover designed by Dalan James and graphics by Danicius Philippe. Copies of both “Sak Sa- The “For De Culture” Edition and Sak Sa Ankó- The “Toulé Jou” Edition are available locally at M&C Drug Stores, Noah’s Arkade (Hewanorra Airport), and on Amazon.
