Choiseul Sec. School Cricket Champs

United Insurance officials with the victorious Choiseul Secondary School Under-19 cricket team.

Choiseul Secondary School are champions having won The United Insurance Under-19 Secondary School Cricket Competition. Their decisive victory over Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary came at the Beausejour Cricket Ground on Friday with no spectators but only a few officials in attendance.
Vieux Fort Comprehensive won the toss and invited Choiseul Secondary to take first knock. Choiseul responded in a big way registering 217 for seven in their allotment of 40 overs.
Vince Smith led the scoring with 78. Shanii Mesmain struck for 32, Valange St Ange had 24 while Junior Henry chipped in with 22.
Bowling for Vieux Fort Comprehensive, Alvinus Simon captured four wickets for 33 in eight overs while Dorman Edward took two for 40 in eight overs.
In reply, Vieux Fort Comprehensive had no answer for the Choiseul bowling attack which limited them to a paltry 23.
National Under-19 fast bowler Canis Richardson was a one man wrecking crew for Choiseul taking six for 11 in six overs. Mesmain who is a National Under-15 seamer captured three for 12 in 5.3 overs.
Following the final there was brief giving. Special guests included Director of Youth & Sports, Victor Reid; Schools Curriculum Officer, Michael “Midget” Pierre; Director with United Insurance Agents (St Lucia) Limited, Hollis Bristol; and General Manager, Faye Miller; Assistant Manager, Ursuline Mitchell
The following individual awards were presented: MVP of the Final, Vince Smith (Choiseul Secondary); Most Wickets, Quintyne St Brice (Vieux Fort Comprehensive). Alvenus Simon (Vieux Fort Comprehensive) scored the Most Runs and Most Centuries.
