Good article. It must be pointed out that accountability is an imaginary concept, why? Just the very fact that word is mentioned, is an endorsement of it’s absence. Accountability has a way of creating lies and deceit because nobody likes to live under a microscope or have to answer for their actions. To be accountable one has to be consciously aware of themselves, and it seems most of St. Lucia is asleep, so how can there be any accountability? We are all sleep walking and talking , we are aware only of being a borborlist.

The Prime Minister’s conversion on the way to Damascus, now lies in the realisation that it was all talk. Still arrogant, still blind and deaf to non inner party hacks ideas. Still elitist, with the view that a Phd, qualification is the key to all economic and political endevours. National vision ?

“Our fresh out-of-ideas Prime Minister”, nice one Rick, I’ve been quoting the same to my Wife about the current PM. Only a gov’t. who’s out of ideas would offer “citizenship for dollars”, and anyway, how many passports must be sold in order to have any real impact on our fiscal situation ? How would they effectively screen the applicants so that the very rich undesirables are kept out of SLU ? They’re heading down a very dangerous path and we should tell this Gov’t. HELL NO!!!

Regardless, until the prevention , investigation and solving of crimes becomes a priority, this will continue . It’s been too many years now and too many excuses. Does human life have no value. We must do better as a country and not tomorrow, today.

A lot of food for thought here. Let’s hope those in a position of authority take the time to read this and let their conscience guide them. It seems the “virus” can only take a greater hold on poor St Lucia. Of course it will go the way that other islands have gone and then visitors will not come…and the downward spiral will continue. Such a shame for one of the more beautiful islands of the Caribbean.

This type of corruption is prevalent where accountability is lacking. When the people make the politicians, the police and other members of society feel like they are above the law these are the consequences. An increase in crime, a failing economy, people loosing their jobs and the rest of the world using every bad adjective in the dictionary to describe that country. St.Lucians need to wake up as we are almost at the point of no return. Everyone must play their part, start holding those politicians accountable, you put them in office, they work for you it is time we make them get that point in St.Lucia.
