Coconut Bay supports St Jude’s

Coconut Bay staff with St Jude Hospital representatives.

St Jude Hospital, the main medical institution in the south of St Lucia on Monday, August 12th, 2013 benefited from a generous donation of linen from Coconut Bay Beach Resort and SPA. The donation comprised quantities of towels, bed sheets, pillows and blankets. The linen supply was delivered to the hospital by a contingent of management personnel from Coconut Bay and was received by a party representing hospital administration and management of the pediatric ward which included CEO, Dr. Chierry Poyotte, Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Minelva Oculien Moses and Nursing Director Mrs. Verna Charles.

The Nursing Director, Mrs. Verna Charles in commenting on the donation explained that it would go a long way in augmenting the supply stock for the pediatric ward and as such would reduce pressure on their laundry services. This she noted would result in greater comfort and better quality of service for patients within the pediatric ward. She was thankful to Coconut Bay for taking interest in the upkeep of the hospital and demonstrating such through  practical support.

The donation which included over two hundred pieces is part of a developing relationship between Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa and St Jude Hospital. Under this understanding, Coconut Bay’s support to St Jude Hospital will be focused on staff training and support to the pediatric ward which the hotel has adopted. The relationship and support for St Jude Hospital will move a step further later this week with the staging of a two day Management Training workshop on Thursday and Friday, August 15th and 16th, 2013. The training will be held at the hotel and some 12 members of the St Jude hospital management team will be benefiting from Effective Leadership Training.

During the short ceremony for hand-over of the linen, Coconut Bay Resort Human Resource Manager,
Ms. Diana Francis expressed the Hotel’s pleasure in providing support to the health institution in particular the hospital’s pediatric ward.  Ms. Francis noted that this demonstration of support was seen in the context of responsible corporate consciousness. She pointed to the developing relationship between Coconut Bay and St Jude Hospital which she expected would eventually be formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
