The high powered Courts Jets did not break the sound barrier Thursday night, but did surpass the century mark in a lopsided victory over Babonneau Dynasty in a National Men’s Basketball League game at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
Jets defeated Dynasty 102-59 despite being down by seven points midway through the first quarter. Approaching half time, Jets went on a scoring blitz and at intermission led 48-39.
At the end of the third quarter Jets pulled away with a commanding 74-51 lead before surpassing the century mark (105) with a late three point basket.
For Jets Andre Louison scored a game high 27 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Teammate Keegan Preville also made his presence felt with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
For his outstanding performance Louison was named the Valley Cold Storage Player of the Game.
Commenting on the game the head coach of Courts Jets, Matthew “Fudge” Raphael said, “the victory was important for us because it moved us up in the standings heading into the playoffs.”
When asked why his team started out slowly and even fell behind at one point in the first quarter he replied: “We try our utmost best to rotate the bench. We always try to keep fresh legs in the game and hard work always gets us through. Even though we are down, we do our best and never give up. We always have the smallest team but our players always play hard every game.”
In another game played Thursday evening Dennery playing on their home court defeated Morne Gladiators 73-56.
For Dennery, Desmond Vidal was on fire scoring a game high 32 points and snatching 12 rebounds. He was easily the Monster Player of the Game.
