COVID-19 Update: 21 New Cases, 2 Dead

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Wednesday, October 27, 2021 confirms a total of twenty-one (21) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 162 samples which were collected between October 25 and October 26, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 13% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12,486.

The Ministry of Health also reports two (2) new COVID-19 deaths and one (1) new COVID-19 related death. All these deaths occurred during the period September 2, 2021 to October 7, 2021.

To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 192 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 61.

COVID-19 death #191 is a 48 year old female from the Babonneau district. COVID-19 death #192 is a 69 year old male of the Dennery district.

COVID-19 related death #61 is a 26 year old female from the Vieux Fort district.

The Ministry of Health extends condolences to the bereaved families, friends and loved ones of all of these individuals.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 38 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 350. Currently, one (1) individual is in critical state and five (5) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,685 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 31,600 have received the second dose. A total of 13,956 individuals have received the first dose and 8,937 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will continue tomorrow Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, La Ressource Constituency Council, Vieux Fort RC Parish Hall, Jacmel Wellness Center, Gros Islet Human Resource Center, Soufriere Hospital, St. Anthony Medical Center in Sunny Acres, Castries and Inno Care on Clarke Street, Vieux Fort. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs will continue providing daily updates to the public as new information becomes available.
