De Kuyper Bar Fights A Real Knock Out!

The first ever De Kuyper Bar Fights have been hailed a resounding success by organiser Peter & Company, distributor of De Kuyper, a popular brand of liqueurs and spirits. The promotion, launched on 4th September, traversed various bars and restaurants around the island, inspiring bartenders to go the extra mile and become more creative.

“The response we got from interested persons and ultimately participants was most encouraging and the final outcome of the cocktails they were able to produce was out of this world,” said Germaine Serieux, Brand Manager at Peter & Company.

The De Kuyper Bar Fights were held in two components. The first required participants to upload a video showing their creative process with a cocktail using De Kuyper and other Peter & Company brands. Contestants were encouraged to use a unique Saint Lucian setting. Entries were whittled down, with five videos making the finals and online voting on the Sip in Paradise Facebook page.

The second component was the creation of a stunning cocktail on location before a panel of judges.

Ahead of the results, Peter & Company hosted the 1st annual De Kuyper Master Class Programme on Tuesday 27th October at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort. The activity was open to all interested bartenders and designed to better equip bar staff with the necessary skill sets to create some of the world’s most exciting cocktails using the unique “flavours of the islands.”

The day’s proceedings included mixology and bartending master classes and flair demonstrations hosted by brand ambassadors from Spain and Holland, bringing a wealth of experience to bartenders, with companies including Sandals, East Winds and Ti Kaye taking full advantage of this opportunity.

The actual De Kuyper Bar Fights were held at the Sand Bar at the resort. The winner was Alexander Louis of Windjammer with his creation of a mix of mango and Blue Curaçao flavoured De Kuyper.

Coming out on top, as well in the online cocktail competition, was Shervin Thomas of Treasure Bay Casino followed by Javon Daniel of Delirius and Lex Joseph of Bay Gardens.

Serieux expressed appreciation to all the bars, restaurants and hotels who encouraged the participants.
