Digicel Congratulates Zouks on Victory at Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium

As a major partner in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Digicel has, for the fourth consecutive year, maintained its support for the biggest party in sport. Preceded by the official naming ceremony of the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, and the induction of the Johnson Charles Stand on Thursday July 21st, Saint Lucia hosted its highly anticipated first game between the St. Lucia Zouks and the St. Kitts Patriots.

Batting in the first innings, the St. Lucia Zouks set a total of one hundred and seventy-four runs, a competitive score for the St. Kitts Patriots to chase. Saint Lucians cheered with pride as Captain of the St. Lucia Zouks and Digicel Ambassador, Daren Sammy, created history by being the first player to score a half century at the newly renamed grounds. Sammy also top scored for Zouks with his fifty-nine runs and walked away with the honourary title of Man of the Match.

Having launched its monthly Text to Win promotion on July 1st, Digicel rewarded over two hundred customers with tickets and cricket survival packs to the various CPL matches. This afforded the many winners the opportunity to support the St. Lucia Zouks and witness cricket played louder.

Daren Sammy and the St. Lucia Zouks, on their home turf, celebrate their victory over the St. Kitts Patriots.

Customers raised their bats and sang high praises to Digicel for the tickets and the opportunity to witness world-class cricketers compete at the highest level.

One of the winners, Miss Jessica George, was particularly excited by the opportunity saying, “I have been a cricket fan all my life. I still can’t believe these megastars will be at arms-length from me. A big thank you to Digicel; you have raised the level of customer appreciation in this market.”

Digicel Marketing and Communications Executive, Miss Louise Victor, said, “Digicel extends huge congratulations to the St. Lucia Zouks on their victory and for reigniting the flame for their supporters at home. We also celebrate with our ambassadors and local heroes Daren and Johnson, on the official naming of the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground and the Johnson Charles Stand. We would like to further congratulate Daren for his continued demonstration of leadership on the field and his ability to have carried the Zouks through to victory.”

Miss Victor added,“As a company we are elated to have made our contribution in ensuring that Saint Lucians were a part of this historic moment; this is all a part of our overarching marketing campaign, ‘Bring the Beat’, and what better way to bring the beat than with our beloved customers. The CPL has grown from strength to strength over the years and giving our customers the opportunity to be a part of this transformation means a lot to us.”

Digicel encourages Saint Lucians to come out in large numbers to continue to support the St. Lucia Zouks and, by extension, the Caribbean Premier League.
