DIGICEL KICK START SELECTS TOP 3 UNDER 16 FOOTBALLERS

Digicel’s Kick Start winners: Nyrone Winter (l), Tommy Descartes (c) and Evian Girard.

Digicel’s Kick Start Clinic came to an end last Wednesday and saw three talented young footballers Avian Girard, Nyrone Winter and Tommy Decartes all chosen to represent St Lucia in the staging of the regional Kick Start Clinic in Barbados later this year.

After the intense two day session with the coaches, the level of talent showcased by all thirty players made the selection of the three players challenging.  In the end Avian Girard, Nyrone Winter and Tommy Decartes were the lucky three chosen to be part of the regional Kick Start clinic in Barbados. Nervous, elated and excited that their names were called; each boy could not believe they were selected.

The three young players will engage in the week-long training session at the Academy in Barbados and will interact and meet from their footballers peers from around the Caribbean and Central America as they converge to learn from one of the best franchise football clubs in the world, Chelsea.

Each of the boys who attended the Digicel Kick Start Clinic was given a Certificate of Participation signed by the Chelsea Head Coach Steven Winnette and Digicel’s Country Manager Mrs. Holly Hughes-McNamara.

The success of this grass roots program has been immense and Digicel looks forward to staging next year’s clinic as it promises to be bigger and better.
