DIGICEL PARTNERS WITH SAINT LUCIA TOURIST BOARD ON THE 23RD STAGING OF SAINT LUCIA JAZZ & ARTS FESTIVAL

Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts festival will be a truly extraordinary event in 2014. Extraordinary in its longevity as this year marks the 23rd successful production of the festival; extraordinary in its variety as inclusions of St Lucia’s rich musical, creative and cultural heritage will be showcased along with world renowned performers gracing the stage this year. With international performers like P-square, The Commodores, Tessanne Chin, Alison Hinds and Maxwell this year’s event is set to be an extraordinary experience.

In June 2008, when Digicel was given the opportunity to partner with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board, the company promised to bring a new dimension to Saint Lucia Jazz and over the past 6 years it has fulfilled that promise. Over the 6 years the festival has grown much bigger and better. The event has the likes of John Legend, Montel Jordan, Luther Vandross, Chaka Chan, Rihanna, George Benson, Beres Hammond, Toni Braxton, Gypsy Kings, and R Kelly. The Saint Lucia’s Jazz and Arts festival has proven to be one of the best musical festivals in the world.

The Saint Lucia Tourist Board launched this year’s event at a media gala ceremony on February 6, 2014, at the Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort, highlighting the artistes and official festival dates of April 30 to May 11, 2014. Positioned as one of the world’s renowned musical festivals, visitors can expect a burst of energy, flair and St Lucian heritage, experienced through dance, fashion, steel pan, visual art, poetry, song and theatrical presentations.

According to Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries Minister Lorne Theophilus: “This year’s event is building on a rebirth of fresh artistic direction infused into the festival in 2013.  Forging closer linkages between the traditional festival line up and the creative industries allows scores of local artisans, entertainers and cultural enthusiasts to command world attention at scenic vistas across the island”.

Digicel’s Country Manager, Mrs. Holly Hughes-McNamara said: “2014 marks the sixth year of Digicel’s strategic alliance with the St Lucia Tourist Board, which encompasses the platinum sponsorship of the Jazz and Arts Festival, Saint Lucia Carnival and the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. This alliance has allowed Digicel to use its technology, resources and infrastructure to enhance the experience delivered to St Lucians and foreigners alike.

“Our track record in continuously being the leaders in innovation and delivering the best value to St Lucians is mirrored by the Saint Lucia Tourist Board as they continue to diversify and infuse new elements into the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival.  Highlighting and showcasing the extraordinary local performers, artisans, entertainers and cultural enthusiasts speaks to the Digicel ideal, that our everyday people truly accomplish extraordinary things.

Patrons should anticipate innovative promotions, giveaways and on-site interactive activities to compliment the ambiance and enjoyment of the festival from Digicel.  As the proud platinum sponsors of the event for the sixth year, Digicel’s commitment to the people of St. Lucia remains strong and steadfast. Digicel is proud of the relationship that has been fostered with the people and communities in St Lucia and recognizes that our sponsorship success is directly linked to the success of the Digicel brand and these much valued relationships.  Our platinum sponsorship of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is yet another expression of our gratitude for the support that the people and communities of St Lucia have given to Digicel.

Digicel will once again provide an avenue for the Saint Lucia Tourist Board to market the event throughout the Caribbean.  In the upcoming months we will have promotions which will give persons from different islands the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival.

Together, the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and Digicel will put on a show like no other – the 2014 Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival.
