Dr Pep launched in Anse La Raye

Dr Desmond 'Pep' Long

Dr Desmond Long, also known as ‘Pep’, was launched as the St Lucia Labour Party candidate for the Anse La Raye/Canaries constituency on Sunday. Pep spoke to thousands of St Lucia Labour Party supporters, focusing on poor and dispossessed in the community.

Said Pep: “When I went into the communities to do home visits and I saw the state of some of some these people, lying on their beds with faeces at the side of their beds—these things touched me. I never knew that life was like this for some in this country. I want to be in position to make a meaningful contribution to your life, to help you achieve a better standard of living.”

The calypsonian also had a song prepared for his campaign called “Mondesir Must Go” aimed right as his opponent, the United Workers Party’s Keith Mondesir.  The crowd loved every minute of it and sang along with the chorus.
