Elite Strikers (Division One) and Canaries (Division Two) emerged champions, following the conclusion of the 2012 Independence Netball Classic Saturday afternoon at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
In the finals of Division One, Elite Strikers lived up to their name with a convincing 57-35 win over Avengers. In the third place playoff, Soufriere got past Shamrock 47-29.
In the Division Two final which was a highly entertaining affair, Canaries defeated All Stars (Anse la Raye) 35-28. UTL (Micoud) captured the third place playoff with a 32-28 win over St Lucian Eagles.
In other news, netballers are presently training in preparation for St Lucia’s participation in the ECCB sponsored OECS Under-23 Netball tournament to be held in Grenada (date pending) and the AFNA Championships set for Trinidad and Tobago July 14-21.
