“The best gift ever!”
That’s how Eli Alexis of Micoud described winning $1,020,400 from the Super 6 draw#2019 of September 1st, 2020. He played the numbers 04, 10, 14, 19, 23 and 27 in the multi-jurisdiction game and purchased the winning ticket at Life Saver Mart, Micoud. “I’m very excited,” said Alexis at a ceremony today, Tuesday. Alexis claimed that he is a regular player and always played these numbers. Asked what he will do with the money, he said: “Well I myself not even too sure but I know for a fact that farming will be much easier.” Alexis indicated that he is a farmer, has two sons and said that this was “the best gift ever”, pointing out that he celebrates his birthday this month.
The St Lucia National Lottery (SNL) came under heavy scrutiny earlier this month, after the winning numbers were posted online prior to the official announcement. In a statement on September 2 the SNL indicated that an employee privy to the results of the draw, released the information in advance of the airing of the official result at 9:00 pm. The SNL stated that this was in violation of policy but assured Saint Lucians that the draw was not compromised.
“At no time was the process of the draw compromised as all controls to ensure the secure closure of sales before the draw process began were followed. The process of selection of the winning number was conducted according to the full established guidelines and supervised by independent external auditors who approved the draw and its results. We wish to re-assure the public that at no time was the result of the draw compromised,” the SNL stated.
“The SNL prides itself on its credibility and integrity and conducts all draws under the strictest international standards for best practice. We would like to assure the public that the integrity of the St Lucia National Draws is of paramount importance and once our full internal investigation is completed the person or persons with responsibility for this breach will be held accountable and requisite changes made to prevent similar recurrence.”
