Housing Minister, Stanley Felix has decided to file a lawsuit for defamation against former housing minister, Richard Frederick.
The confirmation came from Felix’s attorney Peter Foster who spoke exclusively to the STAR about the status of the case.
“We will be pursuing the matter as planned,” Foster said while adding, “We are in the process of filing and we will file shortly.”
The suit concerns comments made by Frederick on the Friday morning radio programme “Can I Help You?” aired on Radio 100FM where Frederick referred to comments made about Stanley Felix on social network site Facebook. Felix has since come out to deny the allegations.
When asked whether his client would discontinue legal action should Richard Frederick issue an apology, Foster answered, “The case will go ahead regardless of whether Mr Frederick eventually issues an apology.”
He further stated that both Richard Frederick and Radio 100FM were given a deadline.
“Radio 100 issued an apology and therefore we will not file against them but to date, Mr Frederick has not issued any apology.”
He also said that Richard Frederick shows no indication of ever issuing an apology and therefore, his client will take the matter to the court.
Since the demand was made by the Housing Minister, Frederick’s radio show has been off air without any definite reason provided by neither station or the host.
However, Radio 100FM’s Managing Director, Linford Fevrier told the STAR on Tuesday that his team is now regrouping and the show will resume shortly.
He gave no particular date when broadcasting will resume.
