Fire Service reach out with help from Super J IGA

The St. Lucia Fire Service is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a series of activities. Among them is a hamper drive/outreach programme in communities throughout the island. A number of underprivileged and less fortunate in communities around the island will be the beneficiaries of the hampers, made possible through the long standing relationship between the Fire Service and Consolidated Foods Ltd.

“One of the best ways to get to know the citizens we protect, as well as provide value to the public, is through community service and outreach and this is one of the many ways we will be observing this occasion” noted Acting Chief Fire Officer Lambert Charles during a brief presentation by a team from CFL.

CFL as the parent company of Super J IGA, Mega J and gl food market has enjoyed a long and fruitful working relationship with the Saint Lucia Fire and Emergency Service. The two entities have worked very closely on training for the CFL team on fire safety, fire drills and other emergency training.

Sariah Best-Joseph, CFL’s Head of Corporate Communications noted that CFL is very community focused as is visible by several of the company’s community support programmes, including the Unity in Community Programme which includes staff volunteerism on social change projects.

She says partnering with the Fire Service on such a worthy cause is therefore a natural fit for the retail entity.
