Fire Service Responds to Mass Casuality Accident in Saltibus

  • St. Lucia Fire Service – At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, personnel at the Vieux Fort Fire Station were informed of a mass casualty incident at Londonderry in Saltibus. The nature of the incident was reported as a head on collision between a subcompact SUV and a minibus.

With a prompt response and assistance from the Hewanorra Crash Fire Hall, Micoud and Soufriere Fire Stations, the officers triaged 10 persons on the scene who were involved in the incident. The patients’ wounds included but were not limited to body pain, lacerations and possible fractures. All individuals were stabilized and transferred to the five awaiting ambulances.

Rapid emergency transportation was provided to the St. Jude Hospital. The patients remained in a stable condition en route and were handed over to medical personnel for further treatment.
