Five men arrested for breaking into police pound

Five men were arrested for unlawfully gaining entry into the Marine Unit’s pound by cutting into the fence about 2:45 a.m on Friday February 21, 2014.

The suspects, were attempting to steal scooters which were impounded by the police. The men, whose ages range from 17 to 24 were confronted by officers attached to the Marine Unit. During the confrontation and apprehension of the suspects, three sustained gunshot wounds to the lower part of the body.

The injured suspects were transported to Victoria Hospital via ambulance where they were treated and admitted in stable condition. The remaining two suspects are currently detained.

All five men will be charged and taken before the court at a later date.
