Flashback

The main subject of our Flashback photo last Wednesday was correctly identified by one of our readers Josephine St. P. “Oswald Larcher of course,” she wrote.

In this photo Larcher is seen with young persons from the Castries North constituency during a youth camp sponsored by his Lancers Sports Club. An avid footballer and sportsman, he went on to make the club one of the most successful and most organized in Saint Lucia during the 80’s and 90’s.

Owald Wilkie Larcher also went on to become a lawyer and years later president of the Saint Lucia Football Association. He has also thrown his hat into the political ring. In 1992 he ran for the Castries north seat on an SLP ticket but was defeated by the UWP’s Stephenson King who received 3,511 to Larcher’s 2,009 votes.

Whilst Larcher now appears to have retired from active politics he still practices law and sports, well it is still his thing.
