Fond Doux Plantation & Resort’s commitment to excellence and environmental stewardship has been recognized with a recertification by Green Globe International, as well as a 2016 Certificate of Excellence from both TripAdvisor and Hotels.com. “We are extremely proud to again be certified as a Green Globe property, and grateful to have received Certificates of Excellence from both TripAdvisor and Hotels.com. We’ve always believed that a resort property can offer an outstanding guest experience, and do so in an environmentally sustainable way, so it’s wonderful to see this recognition “said Fond Doux co-owner Eroline Lamontagne.
The Green Globe Standard provides resorts and organizations with a framework to assess their environmental sustainability performance, monitor improvements and achieve certification. Under the Green Globe Standard a selection of more than 380 indicators are applied to 44 individual certification criteria. The indicators vary by type of certification, geographical and other local factors.
Hotels.com’s Certificate of Excellence recognizes hotels that have achieved excellent to outstanding guest review ratings from customers around the world. To determine the initial recipients, Hotels.com analyzed its database of more than 15 million verified guest reviews to identify the hotels that consistently “go above and beyond” in customer satisfaction. TripAdvisor similarly celebrates hospitality businesses that have earned strong ratings and positive traveller reviews on TripAdvisor over the past year.
“We’re proud that our commitment to excellence is being recognized by both guests and industry professionals,” said Fond Doux co-owner, Lyton Lamontagne. “We are continually challenging and rededicating ourselves to sustainable practices: this year cutting down on waste, energy and water use while still delivering a memorable and authentically Saint Lucian experience for our guests.”
Set against a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Fond Doux Plantation & Resort has 15 cottages set in a tropical rainforest on one of the oldest working plantations in the Caribbean. For the nature lover, the property boasts 30 kinds of fruit trees, extensive walking trails, and an abundance of local birds and wildlife. The historic 134 acre cocoa plantation has been called one of the top five plantation resorts in the world.
The recertification and awards follow on Fond Doux being recognized internationally as The America’s Best Sustainable Boutique Hotel at the World Boutique Hotel Awards in late 2015. Green Globe is the premier worldwide certification and performance improvement programme developed specifically for the travel and tourism industry. It assists organizations to improve their economic, social and environmental sustainability while being rewarded and recognized for doing so.
