Grow Well’s junior golfers score again overseas

The award-winning Grow Well Golf Youth Team returned from Trinidad on Monday with more prizes. Keymanie Thomas, Samuel Richelieu and Lisa Daniel were the surprising and popular winners of this year’s Rotary Golf Tournament in January. It was the first time ever a team of juniors won the tournament, the biggest golf tournament in St. Lucia.

Keymanie Thomas, Samuel Richelieu and Lisa Daniel, accompanied by Grow Well Board Member Tracey Arnold, are on their way to Trinidad. Rotary Gros Islet’s Joel Crocker sees them off with pride and last minute instructions.

Their top Rotary prize was the weekend trip to Trinidad where they played on Sunday in the Rotary Club of Port of Spain West’s annual tournament at St. Andrew’s Golf Club, Moka. The two-man team of Keymanie and Samuel astounded the Trinidadian field by placing sixth in a field of about 100 adult golfers.

Tracey Arnold, Grow Well Board Member who accompanied the youngsters as chaperone said she was amazed to witness the love and respect accorded our Gros Islet juniors in Trinidad. They were particularly impressed with 15-year-old Keymanie Thomas who is Grow Well’s 2018 Champion and a student at Corinth Secondary. Lisa, who played in a team with a Trinidadian Junior Girls Champion, is also a student of Corinth.

This Sunday, Keymanie, Samuel and Lisa return to Trinidad as part of Grow Well’s Team of 6 to participate in the 4-day Caribbean Junior Golf Open, also at St. Andrews in Trinidad. They will be joined by Grow Well golf former champion Rayshorn Joseph, Adrian Richelieu and Celina Lubin. Sixteen-year-old Adrian and 14-year- old Celina are students of Gros Islet Secondary. Congrats to all. We wish them well.
