Has Richard Frederick’s US Visa Been Reinstated?

House Speaker Claudius Francis opened this morning’s session with the bombshell announcement that the impossible had occurred. He explained the MP’s absence with news that he was in the U.S. attending a CARICOM meeting at the U.N. Has the U.S. reversed its 2011 declaration of Frederick as persona non grata? According to some sources, Frederick’s visa is of the 3-day variety granted such as Gadaffi and Fidel Castro whenever they attended meetings of the UN General Assembly! More as the story develops.

  • As a Government Minister with a diplomatic passport in his capacity on official Government Business the US can and sometimes do facilitate persons who would ordinarily in their private capacity be barred from entering the US. So big deal. However, in the first place the question is was it not Politics that brough about his circumstance? Just wondering! As indeed the US has never offered an official Public statement on his situation.
