Home field advantage for St Lucia Zouks!

There is an old but familiar saying “there’s no place like home.” That’s what the St Lucia Zouks are banking on, when they play three crucial matches in the Caribbean Premiere League (CPL), with the first having been played Thursday evening at the Beausejour Cricket Ground (BCG) against Barbados Tridents.

Going into Thursday’s encounter, Zouks were winless in five starts but do hope their fortunes will change playing on their home turf. Saturday, beginning at 4:00 pm, they are up against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel who lead the standings with a 5-1 loss record. Then on Sunday also at 4:00 pm, they take on the winless 0-4 Antigua Hawksbills.
Zouks Captain Darren Sammy who is back on familiar ground at the BCG along with other St Lucian teammates including Johnson Charles, Garey Mathurin and Keddy Lesporis visited sponsors Digicel and Courts on Wednesday, drumming up support for the three important matches being played here.
In a recent interview Sammy pointed out that Brad Hodge’s withdrawal due to injury and Kevin Pietersen’s (KP) delayed arrival, l have been a major setback for the team.

“Brad was integral to our plans and it was a blow when he went down. With the team remaining, I don’t think it’s a matter of talent but it’s just beginning to click on the field,” said Sammy.
He went on to say: “We need to get a win and I think St Lucia is where we’ll turn things around. KP should be in by then, so I think we will be stronger and we will give the crowd what they want.”
