HTS News Reporter takes it off!

A new television show by HTS reporter and presenter Sarah Peters will premiere this Sunday September 1 on HTS at 8:30 p.m. The program according to the presenter will deal with a number of taboo issues or everyday talk on the street that has not been brought to the fore in media. “With this show I promise to be different, to go beyond the news and touch on subjects never before dealt with by the local media or to expound on some of the issues and topics,” Peters told the Star.

“Why do women wear weaves and is it an indictment on black women for wearing extensions?” is just one of the subjects that the program “No Limits” will deal with. “Single mother, no job, no money what’s next? And can women really have it all -the career and the family life? These are some of the issues the brand new show Off Limits is expected to delve into,” Peters says.

According to Sarah Peters “Off Limits” is a unique, offbeat, in-depth program that takes an unprecedented dimension into important social issues. “The initiative explores topics which are seemingly “off limits” and which are not generally brought into the main stream media, issues which have a seemingly subtle impact but realistically play a significant role on our identity, culture and lives. Specifically the show takes a look into social issues, human rights concerns, education and race,” she says.

The concise, thirty minute program will address these issues, provide in-depth discussion on these matters and demystify some of the anathema surrounding these issues.

The show will also feature a segment entitled Youth Talk. “This is a brief feature that will place emphasis on at risk youth, who may not necessarily be in the “spotlight” but who are a success in their own right, students who are able to overcome obstacles and persevere,” Peters pointed out.  “Youngsters who face challenging conditions but are determined to not let their circumstances determine their fate,” she adds.

Peters says that the issues on youth are extremely important because young people facing these challenges are generally not given a platform to share their stories.

“I am really excited about this project which has been in the making now for some time and finally will become a reality, starting this Sunday,” Peters stated.
