My depression followed the loss of my mom at 11 years – crucial time preparing for common entrance, teening etc. Frightening experience – no one bothered except ‘poor jab’. When it mattered no tender touch, no ear, no acceptance. But I believe my coping was finding all my inner strength with the help of God. I truly believe that the state can do more for kids e.g. protect fathers from the wrath of misled women and slow down the ‘chest beating pride of the single mother (not parent)’. Children and their children pay the price & society.

The problem with today’s society is that you don’t allow children to enjoy their childhood, you are busy passing on your neurotic mindset to them that from birth they suffer under your unrealistic expectations. How many people living in the Amazon jungle suffer from depression? I suspect none. You are always poor and you are never good enough as you are, the world is a sick place for humans now. Stop watching the news or reading newspapers and you will discover less anxiety in your life.

I soooo agree with you on this subject which has been a concern of mine. Young people are getting a raw deal from the people who are supposed to be their protectors and carers.

I have witnesses the bad behaviour of our young people here in the U.K. and only yesterday was commenting on a friends post about it. We as black people have thrown all that is good out with the bath water, 1 namely the Holy Bible. Parents are not parents, they let kids bring themselves up with the TV and video games as baby sitters. In turn they are responsible for their own choices and decisions. They blame it on ADHD when it is part of their diets. Sugar and eating at wrong times of the day, going to bed at…
