It was a clean sweep for Jetsetters during play in the Bank of St Lucia Guy Brown Memorial League play on Saturday at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. They won both female and male matches.
The female Jetsetters won their match against the 2010 league champions Dig Set Point (DSP). Jetsetters got off to a good start winning the first set 25-21. Dig Set point came back in convincing fashion taking the second set 25-12.
The two top contenders for the 2010 league female title had the first match-up this year. Jetsetters Volleyball faced 2010 Champions Dig Set Point Volleyball. The match came down to will and skill. Jetsetters opened up winning the first set 25-21. DSP replied winning the second set with a commanding 25-12. The third set was just as competitive with Jetsetters winning it 25-18 putting them up 2-1 in the best of five. The fourth set kept the crowd on the edge of their seat as the scores remained close down to the very end. With long rallies and many changes Jetsetter Volleyball emerged victorious winning this match-up 3 set to 1.
If DSP were looking for revenge In Saturday’s second match in the male division they did not get it. Jetsetters powered by senior national players Dayne Williams, Joseph Clercent and Julian Biscette made quick work of DSP.
Jetsetters made a statement early winning six straight points on service and blocking. DSP did make a game of it but eventually lost the first set 25-20. The second set produced the same result leaving DSP in 2-0 hole they never recovered from. That’s because Jetsetters won the third and final set 25-15.
Play continued on Sunday with Le Club “A” going up against Le Club “B.” On paper with the likes of national players Dania Hamilton, Sancha Isidore, Tramaine Edward, Suzie Sylvester, Petal Isidore, Le Club “A” appeared invincible. Not so fast.
This inner rivalry produced an exciting five setter with Le Club “B” pulling off the upset of the competition. The scores were 18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25 and 6-15.
In the second match Saturday in the male division, The Le Club male side came out with all guns blazing hoping to pound Micoud
into submission. Despite being a few players short, Micoud showed plenty of fight but were no match
for their opponent. Le Club won the match in straight sets 25-17, 25-15
and 26-24.
