Labour mourns the passing of Brother Elliot Francis

It is with very deep sadness that the Saint Lucia Labour Party, receives notice of the passing of our dear brother, Elliot Francis, one of the unwavering stalwarts of the St. Lucia Labour Party, over several decades.
Elliot’s last official contribution to the Party was in the difficult and unenviable position of Party Treasurer – a task he performed with passion and dedication.
About ten years ago, Brother Elliot was incapacitated due to illness caused by a vehicular accident. Through the intervention of the Labour Party arrangements were made for Elliott to receive medical care in Cuba. The Cubans embraced our brother, did some wonderful and magnificent surgery, and breathed new life into our dying brother. Brother Elliot recuperated, came back with new strength, vigour and vitality, and thanks to the great generosity of our Cuban brothers and sisters, Elliot lived to enjoy several more years of life.
Brother Elliot will be remembered as a true soldier of Labour, one who spoke his mind without fear or favour. He was a very fierce defender of the Labour Party, but was always brave and honest enough to express his personal opinions and disagreements with Party positions.
May the soul of our dearly beloved comrade, Brother Elliot Francis, find its place among the souls of all our previously fallen comrades, and rest in eternal peace.
