Seventeen of the nation’s aspiring fashion designers competed in the Courts second annual Fashionista Competition for a chance at walking away with $2,500 in cash.
The competition, which was held on Friday August 28th at the Courts flagship branch, saw scores of St. Lucians in-store supporting their favourite designer. In the end, with a total of 255 points, local seamstress Laurie Isaac emerged victorious. Ms Isaac, resident of Castries, was inspired by the Julson 3 piece living room suite. She explained that the actual colour of the suite was what inspired her firstly.
“First and foremost, the colour was what caught my attention; then it was the size. As most designers, I design for a certain aesthetic. I love to design for all shapes and sizes. To me that is what makes you a true designer.”
Courts congratulates Laurie Isaac on her triumph.
Coming in second was eighteen-year-old Cheris Fitz who was also inspired by the Julson 3 piece suite. She walked away with $1,000 cash. Local veteran designer Perry Martial placed third with a total of 204 points after his depiction of the Ruby 3 piece living room suite.
Courts would like to sincerely thank all of the participants of the second annual Fashionista Competition and would like to once again congratulate the winners and commend the participating seventeen on doing an amazing job. The company urges all young and aspiring designers to continue to grow and develop their skills as they may be the next Courts Fashionista Champion.
