Le Club is the best in veterans volleyball

Coach Florian Combie and members of the triumphant Le Club Volleyball team.

Proving they still have the guts, skill and plenty of stamina despite their age which in this case was 35 and over, female volleyball players from St Lucia and St Kitts were impressive, during the first ever Veterans Volleyball Tournament here at the Beausejour Indoor Facility over the weekend.
Le Club which showed time and time again they could give the national squad a good run, emerged champions going through the tournament undefeated. As if that wasn’t enough, they lost just one set on their way to winning the title.
Finishing second behind Le Club was the highly touted St Kitts Bengals team led by their super star Brenda Allen. She received three individual awards at the prize giving ceremony on Sunday.
On day one (Friday) Ciceron defeated Dig Set Point 3-2. In the second encounter that night Le Club swept past St Kitts in straight sets.
On day two (Saturday), Dig Set Point hoping to get back on track, put up a good fight but eventually lost to St Kitts. In the second game that evening, Le Club made it two in a row defeating Ciceron Seagulls 3-1.
On the final day of competition Sunday, Le Club clinched the tournament with a decisive three set win over winless Dig Set Point. In the other contest which was a battle for second place, Ciceron gave the visitors all they could handle before losing 3-0. St Kitts won the first two sets 26-24, 27-25 but then over powered Ciceron in the third set 25-15 to lock up second place.
