Last year’s Carnival Queen Louise Victor is getting set for yet another journey into the world of pageantry. Already this year the 20-year-old from Micoud has taken part in two regional events—the annual Jaycee’s pageant in Antigua and Miss Carival in St Vincent.
Jaycee’s celebrated their 50th anniversary this year and the event was quite the “golden jubilee.” Out of 16 girls Louise was the third runner-up—securing the Miss Photogenic title.
“Miss Carival was my first regional pageant so at first I didn’t know what to expect,” she told the STAR. “It was all about mental preparation and when I got there I just did what I had to do and placed fourth out of the ten girls.
Pretty soon Louise will usher in another experience she hopes will contribute to her professional and overall personal development. The former carnival queen will compete in the Miss
Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus pageant being held in St Marteen on December 3.Originally Onyka Mc Koy, winner of the 2011 Miss Caribbean Culture pageant in St Kitts was expected to be St Lucia’s representative for Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus but Mc Koy is scheduled to participate in an obligatory fashion show in St Kitts also on December 3 as part of her Miss Caribbean Culture responsibilities.
St Lucia will still have quite ravishing representation this year in the form of Louise Victor who chaperone Pennie John says has what it takes to win the crown.
“I approached the Crazy Beautiful Modeling model agency and their manager introduced me to Louise Victor and I was sold,” Pennie told the STAR. “She has the looks, height and physique and I’m convinced she’ll make a great showing.”
“I’m really excited and confident,” the beauty queen says of the upcoming pageant. “It’s my first pageant without a talent segment, it’s something different and something to look forward to.”
When asked about her expectations Louise told us: “I think I have a good shot. The more I do the more passionate I get about pageantry. Typically girls would say it’s about making new friends, but for me it’s about self-development. Pageantry is along the same lines with my career; I want to be in fashion industry.”
In her experiences Louise says she’s learnt what to expect on the pageant scene and adds: “If you’re weak internally and don’t know how to be unique and stand for yourself you might end up falling into the typical stereotype of what a beauty queen is. I think my intelligence sets me apart.”
Pageant preparations have been underway for the past couple of weeks and Victor is scheduled to leave island on Friday, November 25 just ahead of the pageant.
Miss Caraïbes Hibiscus is an annual international beauty contest for all countries of the Caribbean and the Americas. It was founded in 1990 in the French part of Saint Martin. Tineffa Naisso from French Guiana secured the crown in 2006.
