Mabouya Valley Cricket results

Cricket action continued in the Mabouya Valley this weekend with three matches played with one major surprise.
In the Honourable Shawn Edward 50 Over Tournament on Saturday, the Mabouya Valley Under-19 team had a huge upset win over Rovers United to leave their qualifying hopes for the semi-final hanging by a thread.
In a game they needed to win, Rovers United only showed up with eight men and in spite of the Under 19’s performances this season, they knew they would have to face an uphill battle if they were to come out victorious.
The Under-19s won the toss and captain Rick Velinor made a bold decision to insert Rovers United, in an effort to make early inroads into their batting.
Rovers quickly raced to 53 for one following the seventh over. For a moment it seemed the Under-19s were going to rue their decision. However, a spell of five for 18 by diminutive spinner, Peter Prospere decimated the Rovers batting lineup and they capitulated for a paltry score of 84 off only 15.5 overs.
Dishon Rampal and Alius Martial also got a wicket each.
Openers Mitchel Louisy (23) and Kirby Francis (17) led the scoring for Rovers.
With their tails up following the wonderful bowling performance, the Under-19s responded very positively. They overhauled the Rovers total in 11.2 overs, losing four wickets in the process to end their season on a high as they picked up their first victory in the group.
Rick Velinor was unbeaten as he top scored with a very responsible
and mature knock of 30,
as he led his team over the line.
Murgaran Joseph three for 49 and Albert Shoulette one for 17accounted for the wickets.
The Mabouya Valley For Jesus 20/20 Tournament continued on Sunday with two matches in the second round.
Rovers United got a chance to redeem themselves following the disappointment of their defeat on Saturday. They also had an opportunity to knock lowly Monarch out of a T20 tournament for the second time in succession this season.
Rovers United steam rolled their opponents
for a score of 79 after winning the toss and asking them to bat. That total was never going to be enough for a decent Rovers outfit who had a point to prove. They quickly chased it off just nine overs for the loss of three wickets.
Keris Hippolyte (25) and Clivus Jules (10) were the only Monarch batsmen to get into double figures.
Murgaran Joseph,
Albert Shoulette, Dishon Rampal and Tori Edwin all snatched two wickets for Rovers.
In the response, Murgaran Joseph (37) and Mitchel Louisy (24*) both had boundary laden knocks to lead Rovers to victory.
Samuel Montia picked up all three Rovers wickets to end with three for 24.
In the second game, Togetherness Youth continued their wonderful unbeaten season as they defeated Survivals by eight wickets.
A combination of good bowling and reckless shots caused Survivals to fold for a meagre score of 85 runs in 16.5 overs.
Polius Edwin (21), Adeju Hobson (17) and Rohan Lesmond (16) were the main contributors for Survivals.
Shane Edwin, Mervin Wells, Mark Touril and Garvin Jn Baptiste all grabbed two wickets.
Survivals were quickly put to the sword when they bowled as Richard Peter (32*), Shane Harris (25)
and Martin Francis (17) scored runs quickly to
reach the target off 10.4 overs.
