The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) announced Tuesday that one man is in police custody following investigations into an incident in Ciceron, which left a 9-year-old boy nursing injuries. Superintendent of Police with responsibility for Crime Management, George Nicholas, told reporters today that the incident occurred on October 3 at about 1:30 PM.
“Police responded to an incident in Ciceron, where a 9-year-old male victim received an apparent gunshot wound to the right eye. He was subsequently taken to the Owen King EU Hospital where he underwent surgery and he’s now in a stable condition. One male individual has been taken into custody and charges are expected to be laid shortly,” Nicholas said.
The Superintendent said that the RSLPF does not have any information as to whether the firearm was licensed or not. “What we can say is that the person who was taken into custody, does not appear on our records as a licensed firearm holder,” he noted.
Nicholas revealed that a firearm has not been recovered in this incident.
