The Major Crimes Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of 18-year-old Cornelius Edwin who is originally of Ciceron but resided at Marchand.
On Monday November 3, 2014 about 2:00 a.m., Edwin was found unresponsive lying on a flight of stairs near the Mindoo Phillip Park with an apparent injury to the head. He was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was admitted.
About 10:20 a.m., on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 Edwin succumbed to his injuries whilst in the Intensive Care Unit of Victoria Hospital. A post mortem examination was conducted on his body on Friday November 7, 2014. The results indicate brain damage secondary to a gunshot wound to the head.
No one has been arrested in relation to this homicide.
Meanwhile, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department are investigating the attempted murder of 34-year-old Jahvin “One Face” Roberts of Bexon.
It was reported that on Saturday November 8, 2014 about 11:15 p.m. Roberts was at Bexon when he became involved in an altercation with a known individual. As a result, he sustained several cutlass slashes about the body and was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was admitted in a critical condition and treated.
Officers are pursuing a suspect in this matter.
