Massive win for SMC in Massy United Insurance Cricket

St Mary’s College (SMC) are Massy United Insurance Schools cricket champions for 2019, having pulled off  a 71 run victory over Micoud Secondary School (MSS) in the finals of the competition played Friday on the Gros Islet Playing Field. 

MSS won the toss and fielded in a match reduced to 40 overs due to rain. SMC eventually got 186 all out in (35) overs, thanks mainly to knocks from Sherqwayne Prudent and Jehan Boodha with 43 each while Desne Gidharry chipped in with32. 

Brent Edward was the most successful bowler for MSS taking four for 42. Marklin Estephane captured three for 38 and Jerlan Justin two for 23.

In reply MSS were restricted to 115 for nine in 40 overs. Nean Deterville 19 and captain Keon Gaston 18 were their top scorers. Amari Venner who was named Player of the Finals was in fine form with the ball for SMC, bagging five for 16 and Zidane Arthur lent good support with three for six.

A Massy United X1 was named at the end of the tournament consisting of Ackeem Auguste, SMC; Amari Venner, SMC; Ephron Charles, Entrepot Secondary School; Denzel Roberts, Entrepot Secondary School; Keon Gaston, MSS; Marklin Estaphane, MSS; Dichege Henry, MSS; Tyron Theodore, Beanefield Comprehensive; Bolton Sayers, Babonneau Secondary School; Craig Elisee, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College; Keygan Arnold, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School; Jaden Elibox, Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School; Lee Solomon, Corinth.
