MBC Correspondent Bivouacking at Bordelais!

The media’s best kept secret had the spotlight turned on it several kilowatts brighter yesterday, with word from court sources that the local media association president has been transferred from Custody Suites to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

As earlier reported only on the STAR website, Miguel Fevrier was on Wednesday taken from his MBC office into police custody. In a court case adjudicated last year, he pleaded guilty to stealing $28,042.58 from a Bank of Saint Lucia chequing account, some ten years ago while employed there. It is unclear why the matter dragged on for as long as it did.

MBC Political Correspondent Miguel Fevrier: He was arrested at his workplace earlier this week and has been transferred from Custody Suites to Bordelais.

According to court documents dated January 26, 2018, Fevrier was ordered to “repay the sum of $28,042.58 to the Bank of St. Lucia by way of monthly installments of $700.00” and to give “four hundred hours of community service supervised by the Probation Department”.

The STAR has been informed that while the MBC senior political correspondent had contributed some of his time to community service, he failed to make several of the court-ordered payments—and still owes some $23,000. On Friday, Fevrier’s legal counsel planned on placing before the high court an application to extend the payment deadline. The plan did not materialize.
