MeCurator Art Gallery will host a art collection titled “Art Thrives Us – A Journey of Art through Arthritis”

The MeCurator Art Gallery in collaboration with SLALA will host a art collection launch, titled  “Art Thrives Us – A Journey of Art through Arthritis” on Thursday 15th November, from 7.00pm – 9.00pm, at the MeCurator Art Gallery, located in Massade Gros Islet (within the Star Publishing grounds).

MeCurator holds art at its core. “As an Art Curator, my heart is in connecting artists, audiences and buyers to Caribbean Art. This can be done through regular platforms for art work to be shown, by artists of all ages, gender and abilities,” says gallery owner Buki Cahane. In collaboration with St Lucia Arthritis and Lupus Association (SLALA), MeCurator would like to showcase an art collection by talented artists who suffer from the restrictive effects of arthritis, lupus and other physical ailments. According to Cahane, “Although the artists are constrained by these ailments, they have been able to find a mental and physical freedom through expressive art therapy.”

The month long collection will showcase the works of the artists and all pieces will be available for sale. It also reinforces the efforts of the MeCurator Art Gallery to showcase all forms of St Lucian art – by those able, and in some cases – where others would deem them disabled. Dr Amanda King, psychologist Nicole Edgecombe and renowned artist Peter Walcott will also share a few words on the night, each reflecting from the perspective of the journey with art and arthritis . The launch night is focused on raising awareness on this condition with support from SLALA, asking people to broaden their minds, dig deep into their pockets and support the charities such as SLALA behind arthritis and lupus. This will be a entry free event, where wine and canapés will be available for attendees.

Experience this insightful collection on the opening night – Thursday 15th November 2018, held at The MeCurator Art Gallery at Massade, Gros Islet, from 7.00pm.
