Each week we will feature two of the Miss St Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association contestants leading up to the Saturday September 8 pageant:
Miss Windjammer Landings Villa Beach Resort—Nadege Maximin
Miss Sandals Resorts International— Gladys Noel
Miss Jalousie Plantation—
Tracey Nicolas
“Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.” This quote is a driving force in the mind of Tracey Nicolas, a proud contestant in this year’s Ms SLHTA pageant.
Tracey entered this world on September 10, 1990 and grew up in the vibrant community of Choiseul. Because of her upbringing in a loving family, Tracey has dedicated her life observing children who lack love and she embraces every opportunity to help them develop and practice empathy.
In the sense of being a true Virgo, Tracey is practical, ambitious and humorous.
She continues to strive for excellence and look towards continuing her education in Hospitality Management. Although she has never pursued dance as a career or even at a practice level, Tracey has a true passion for the art of dance.
Tracey is currently employed at The Jalousie Plantation as a Hostess; this she considers to be a stepping stone into the direction of gaining all requisite skills and knowledge of later succeeding to a Managerial level.
Miss Sea Spray Cruises—Merlika Modest
Outgoing, down to earth, yet shy are a few words that describe this 26 year old, 5′ 3″ beauty, better known as, Merlika Elva Modest.
Merlika is the graceful representative for Sea Spray Cruises which is the leading catamaran cruise operator on the island and also a delightful tour guide aboard the Tango catamaran and pirate ship Liana Ransom. Her job is to provide information, history and culture to her visitors about the island and to ensure that they have a wonderful experience enjoying the many tours that they offer whether it’s a Zip Line tour or just a Sunset Cruise. Merlika takes her job very serious and views her efforts in the hospitality industry as vital for the development of Saint Lucia.
Her experience as a tour guide has fuelled her dreams towards having her own tour operating company and to further market Saint Lucia as a major tourist destination for phenomenal excursions and relaxation.
