Meet the Miss SLHTA contestants

Each week we will feature two of the Miss St Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association contestants leading up to the Saturday September 8 pageant:

Miss Windjammer Landings Villa Beach Resort—Nadege Maximin

From tender age, this beautiful lady has always been aiming for self development and gaining new experiences, she is the elegant Nadege Maximin, representative for Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort Born. From her school days, she has been academically driven and partook in several extracurricular activities. During her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her role model, her mother Prisca Maximin, the lady to whom she owes her qualities, tenacity for success and her smile. She has always been one to seize all opportunities which arise and is a firm believer that opportunities not capitalized are memories and learning experiences lost. Nadege has her Associate’s Degree in Travel and Tourism from the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, but strives to earn a double major in Travel and Marketing. She is hopeful that achieving the title of MISS SLHTA 2012, will assist her in this regard as the coveted prize is a full scholarship from Monroe College. This opportunity will enable her to give back and assist in the development of her country, “Lovely St. Lucia”

Miss Sandals Resorts International— Gladys Noel

Grounded by the belief that a woman with strong, positive family and religious values, alongside a proper education, is a woman well upheld for success, she is Gladys Noel, the proud representative of Sandals Resorts International and a true asset to the Sandals branding. With her eloquence, she projects herself as an outstanding and captivating young woman. She exerts herself as a woman with ambition, intelligence, a warm personality and poise. She has described her life’s journey as striving to become an international ambassador for Saint Lucia’s tourism industry. Gladys believe in maintaining her self-respect at all time and also in keeping a positive self-image as it relates to ones deportment. She clearly recalls this interest being inculcated in her by her father, Cecil Frank, who would remind her of always striving to be her best, look her best and sounding her best. Irrespective of these remarkable features, she regards herself as humble and an individual who has a special place in her heart for people in underprivileged circumstances. Her wish is to find a way to assist them more in life. Despite her recent introduction to pageantry, she takes on this opportunity like any other in her life. It is yet another moment to develop her untrained skills and sustain her roots; and recalling her father’s words: “be your best, look your best and sound your best” she is ready to face this new challenge.

Miss Jalousie Plantation—
Tracey Nicolas

“Great dancers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.” This quote is a driving force in the mind of Tracey Nicolas, a proud contestant in this year’s Ms SLHTA pageant.
Tracey entered this world on September 10, 1990 and grew up in the vibrant community of Choiseul. Because of her upbringing in a loving family, Tracey has dedicated her life observing children who lack love and she embraces every opportunity to help them develop and practice empathy.
In the sense of being a true Virgo, Tracey is practical, ambitious and humorous.
She continues to strive for excellence and look towards continuing her education in Hospitality Management. Although she has never pursued dance as a career or even at a practice level, Tracey has a true passion for the art of dance.
Tracey is currently employed at The Jalousie Plantation as a Hostess; this she considers to be a stepping stone into the direction of gaining all requisite skills and knowledge of later succeeding to a Managerial level.

Miss Sea Spray Cruises—Merlika Modest

Outgoing, down to earth, yet shy are a few words that describe this 26 year old, 5′ 3″ beauty, better known as, Merlika Elva Modest.

Merlika takes her job very serious and views her efforts in the hospitality industry as vital for the development of Saint Lucia.
Her experience as a tour guide has fuelled her dreams towards having her own tour operating company and to further market Saint Lucia as a major tourist destination for phenomenal excursions and relaxation.
