The Ambassador of Mexico, Luis Manuel López Moreno presented his letters of credence to H.E. Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor General of St Lucia, in a ceremony in Government House.
Ambassador Lopez Moreno conveyed a message of fortune, prosperity and well-being on behalf of Mexico’s President, Enrique Peña Nieto. He also expressed his government’s deep regret for the damages faced by the people of Saint Lucia in the aftermath of the Christmas Eve Trough, its sadness for the death of six persons and the loss of property which affected the welfare of thousands of Saint Lucians.
In his message, Ambassador López Moreno referred to the common history, geography and culture that Mexico and St Lucia share. He mentioned that the relations between our countries have always been of respect, cooperation and goodwill and now he holds the privilege to live and work in this beautiful Caribbean island for the benefit of these two great nations.
The Ambassador mentioned that international cooperation for development in the Caribbean is a priority for Mexico’s foreign policy, and he expects Mexico and St Lucia to take full advantage of their partnership in this field. He also made reference to the 4th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States, to be held in April this year under Mexico’s presidency, by virtue of developing our cooperation ties.
“Your Excellency, as a country belonging to the Great Caribbean, Mexico has as one of its priorities to work closer with the countries of the region and rest assured that Saint Lucia can always count on Mexico as a friendly and close partner”, Ambassador Moreno concluded.
