[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network (CYPAN) prides itself on the core values of commonwealth “democracy, peace and security, freedom of expression, separation of powers, good governance, tolerance, respect and understanding, access to health, education, food and shelter, protecting the environment, the importance of young people in the commonwealth and the role of civil society” as it continues to put forward a call to action so as to address issues which plague the youth population.
As government heads and stakeholders meet next week to discuss the future of the commonwealth, CYPAN, in partnership with World Peace Initiative (Peace Revolution), will host a series of mindfulness workshops across the Caribbean. The Saint Lucian leg of this Caribbean tour will run from April 17 – April 20 under the theme “A Commonwealth of Nations. We remain mindful, as we work towards a common future for peace and sustainable development.”
Those at CYPAN understand that the ever-changing status quo calls for fundamental rethinking if one is to be allowed the opportunity to thrive peacefully and subsequently contribute to sustainable development in this fast-paced, ever-changing, environment. CYPAN is grateful to the Department of Youth Development and Sports for adding this event to the Youth Month calendar.
In Saint Lucia the beneficiaries of this tour are: South Castries Youth and Sports Council, Saint Lucia Boys Training Centre, United and Strong, Caribbean Youth Environment Network—Saint Lucia Chapter, CAM Dancers, Ave Maria Girls’ Primary, South Castries—Train the Trainers, civilized society which embraces transformation, which opens the way to a new era.
The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassadors Network would like to congratulate the Saint Lucia National Youth Council and, by extension, other youth-led organisations throughout Saint Lucia for their contribution towards youth participation on a national, regional and international level—as engagement and opportunity is key in peace building.
