Shots rang out amidst the din of the party atmosphere on Jeremie Street in Castries Friday night at about 11:20 pm. Minutes later it was discovered that 19 year old Danny “Cocoyo” Theophane of Conway, Castries had received gunshots wounds. Theophane was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Just over an hour later at about 12:50 a.m on Saturday morning, officers also responded to a shooting at Faux A Chaud in Castries.
Information indicates that 30 year old Vinton “Tanny” Clement of Faux A Chaud was seated near an area known as “the slums” with a group of persons when masked men walked up to them and fired several shots in their direction. As a result, Clement sustained gunshot wounds. He was transported to Victoria Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
And while no one has been arrested in relation to any of these homicides, police this week reported a breakthrough in the homicide of 35 year old Ulanda Frederick of La Clery, Castries.
According to the RSLPF, four men are in custody assisting with the investigations. Frederick who had recently been released from prison,where she was being held in connection with a 2010 shooting, was shot at Leslie Land, Castries on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
The number of homicides in Saint Lucia for the year now stands at nineteen.
