Super J IGA supermarkets has teamed up with its Colgate supplier, to sponsor the finals of the third annual National Dental Spelling Bee competition for grade three students.
On Wednesday, May 22 the eight finalists of the preliminary inter district competitions, will take centre stage at the finals scheduled for the conference room of the National Wellness Centre. Over one hundred and forty four students, teachers, parents and health ministry officials are expected to be in attendance at the activity, which is designed to increase public awareness of good dental hygiene and create an appreciation for the importance of teeth.
The National Dental Spelling Bee is part of a series of dental health awareness promotions being coordinated by the dental division of the ministry of health, wellness, human services and gender relations.
Last week Super J IGA’s marketing manager Sancha Raggie presented a cheque of EC $3600 to Dr Sherry Ephraim, senior dental surgeon of the ministry of health. The monies represent Super J IGA and Colgate’s contribution of food supplies, Colgate products and prizes for the event.
