Immediately following the FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain, Joshua Runako Daniel traveled to Irvine, California, to compete in the USA Swimming 2013 Speedo Junior National Championships held at the William Woollett Jr Aquatics Centre.
Entering the 50 m free at number 64, Daniel shot up to 28th place with a new St Lucia National Record of 23.87s.
Earlier in the week, Daniel completed a time trial in the 100 m free and recorded a time of 53.43s, also a national record time. This brings to six the number of long course national records held by this phenom athlete.
Daniel headed home this weekend for a well-deserved rest, before returning to school in the USA at the end of August.
The Speedo Junior National Championship is the biggest summer LC meet for juniors, with Daniel competing against the very best swimmers in the USA and is attended by college coaches from across the country.
Runako Daniel set two national records at a recent competition in the United States.
