Netball Festival for Primary Schools

The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports in its quest to revitalize Primary School Netball, is hosting a Primary Schools 13 and Under Netball Festival for all Primary schools from Districts One to Eight from June 25 to July 4.
Schools will play a one-day round robin round in their respective districts or groups according to number of schools registered. Henceforth the top schools in the districts/groups, will proceed to next round of the competition (quarter-final, semi-final and final).
Matches will be played on respective community courts in the various districts; and then Micoud and Vigie Complex in the semi-final and final rounds.
To date 19 primary schools have confirmed their willingness to participate in the netball festival namely: Monchy, Grande Riviere (Gros Islet), Babonneau, Boguis, Vide Bouteille, Ave Maria Girls’, Marchand, Anse la Raye, La Ressource (Dennery), Aux Lyons, Deniere Rivierre, Richfond, Ti Rocher
(Micoud), Micoud, Pierrot Combined, Reunion, Roblot and Canaries.
The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports will facilitate transportation costs for all participants in the Primary Schools’ Netball Festival and encourage all Primary Schools to participate.
The following awards will be presented at the end of the Netball Festival. First place team, championship trophy award with medals; second place team, trophy award with medals; third place team, trophy award with medals; Most Valuable Player awards.
Most Valuable Player (MVP): Coaches shall nominate first and second choices for MVP on the opponent’s team, after each game during the round robin phase. First choice nominees will receive a score of 10 points, second choice nominees receive a score of five points. The player with the most points will be declared MVP. In the
event of a tie, the Ministry of Youth Sports and Development will declare the MVP.
