Nicole Mc Donald says PM visiting constituencies a regular thing

The government’s Senior Communications Officer Ms. Nicole Mc Donald has sought to clear the air on Prime Minister Allen Chastanet’s recent visits to constituencies. In a call to Timothy Poleon’s Newsspin program yesterday, Mc Donald said that the suggestion that the prime minister has hosted a rally or motorcade, is far from the truth. She says that from the time Chastanet became prime minister in 2016, he has always gone to constituencies.

“He has always visited with people to get a feel from what’s on the ground and to communicate with his supporters, and to all Saint Lucians. This is a regular thing that the prime minister has done from the beginning,” said Mc Donald. “The prime minister was not having any such event; he was not having any motorcade or anything like that. He was simply going about his normal activities of visiting the constituencies, which has happened over the last four years.”

Speaking on Chastanet’s trip to Dennery, she went on: “You can see in the videos that some of the supporters of the MP for Dennery North actually came out and created a stir, and made it look like it was a lot of people.” Mc Donald says that while in various communities, there are a lot of people who flock toward the prime minister, and want to speak to him to share their concerns. However, she reiterated: “…by no means was there any mass crowd event or any thing planned by the prime minister.”

On Tuesday Acting Police Commissioner Milton Desir also spoke on the constituency visits, and indicated that “action has been taken” in regard to Chastanet not wearing a mask: https://stluciastar.com/desir-says-he-sent-face-shields-after-pm-did-not-wear-a-mask-2/
