It is Sammans Park this weekend for the annual Oktoberfest en Kweyol, organized by the Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd (WLBL). The event starts at 2 pm and organizers are looking forward to presenting an evening of fun and entertainment to patrons.
Oktoberfest en Kweyol borrows on the original Oktoberfest from Germany but with the added creole twist to it to coincide with Creole Heritage Month being observed here in October. The event will features a fare of creole cuisine, pulsating rhythms and a world of beers.
For the collectors and beer lovers, the beers on show will include the popular Oktoberfest beer Paulaner Beer, Amstel Extra, Parbo Beer, Bulmers Pear Cider, Desperado Red and Affligem Blond. Of course WLBL’s portfolio which includes Heineken, Piton, Carib, Guinness, Desperado and Strongbow gold will also be available as well as tokens and souvenirs from Sea Island Cotton Shop.
The sixth annual “Oktoberfest En Kweyol”, will have as the main act this year Midnight Groovers of Dominica. The event will also feature DYP as well as traditional groups Mamai Lacaye, Secret Band and Avot Servis. Also performing; the Harmonite Steel Band, Lighting dancers, Ricky T, MC Pringles and the 2013 Piton Soca Starz winner Soca Bandit.
