Zanshin Karate Dojo honoured its outstanding karatekas for 2013 at a ceremony held at the Dojo’s headquarters located at Corinth Estate, Gros Islet. Over 20 students were awarded various prizes for their outstanding performances during the year. Topping the list of exemplary performers were Kyu Keamalyn Charles (purple belt), Kyu Lisa Louis Phillip (orange belt), Kyu Kordell St. Ange (purple belt),  and Kyu Crecean Biscombe (purple belt). These students were selected based on the following criteria: regular attendance at karate training sessions during 2013, impressive performance during karate examinations held in March, July, and December 2013, involvement in the various activities of the Dojo, demonstration of good discipline within and outside the Dojo, and overall keen interest in karate-do.

Chief Instructor of Zanshin Karate Dojo, Sensei Ezra Jn. Baptiste congratulated all the honourees and urged them to continue steadfastly in their study of the art form and discipline of shotokan karate-do. He showered immense praise on the parents and well-wishers who were in attendance at the ceremony for their support.

Sensei Ezra took the opportunity to outline some of the items on the calendar of activities for 2014 which include karate examinations in March, July and December, the visit of Sensei Murakami of Japan in March to conduct training seminars and black belt examinations, a visit to Martinique in July/August, participation in Shotokan Karate-do International Federation Saint Lucia Karate Championships,  community give-backs, visits to other sister dojos on the island, and other activities to commemorate the 21st  anniversary of Zanshin Karate Dojo.
