An investigation has been launched after a male patient was found hanging at the Victoria Hospital (Respiratory Hospital). The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Alisha Eugene-Forde, says that the discovery was made today, April 14, 2021, “within one of the wards” at the facility.
“This 54-year-old patient was admitted on April 12 at around 9 o’clock. We last saw him alive at around 3:00 am this morning. We noticed that he had passed away or he was hanging; his body was hanging at around 5:30, minutes to 6:00 this morning,” Forde said in a statement issued to the media.
“We are working with our clinical team, as well as the police and the family members to find out exactly what happened, therefore the investigation is ongoing.”
Forde added: “Meanwhile we are working and we want the public to know that we continue to work together to ensure that the patients that come to the hospital receive the best care that we have available to them.”
