Piton Malta provides Nourishment through COVID-19

Saint Lucian citizens who have been adversely impacted by COVID 19, have and will receive much needed support from Windward & Leeward Brewery Limited, Du Boulay’s Bottling Company (WLBL DBC) through its Piton Malta Nourishing Futures Campaign. This is the second time that WLBL DBC has launched the initiative and this year the company has partnered with the St. Lucia Social Development Fund (SSDF), the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) and Massy Stores Supermarkets to give back to vulnerable families across the island.

According to WLBL DBC officials, “The Piton Malta Nourishing Futures Campaign is all about bringing nourishment, sustenance and providing support to local families.” In the wake of the economic downturn caused by the global pandemic, WLBL DBC officials thought it was necessary to roll out the campaign to help those who have negatively been impacted. In the first phase of the 2020 campaign, the company has collaborated with officials from SSDF in selecting and providing six (6) families with food hampers in every district around the island, starting with Gros Islet.

According to the Executive Director of the SSDF, Mr. Allison Mathurin, “At a time when businesses are strapped for cash, a donation like this is extremely rare and valuable.”

The second phase of the campaign, as done previously, focuses on generating funds through a Piton Malta $0.05 Cents promotion at all Massy Stores Supermarkets. For every Piton Malta purchased, $0.05 cents will be donated to NEMO to assist families in need. According to the Category Brand Manager for Piton Malta, Mrs. Fern Wilson-Jean, “ At WLBL DBC, we understand how challenging this time is for a lot of our consumers and the general public and the Piton Malta Nourishing Futures Campaign is really our way of giving back.”

The 2019 Piton Nourishing Futures campaign provided assistance to the St Lucia Crisis Centre, an NGO whose primary focus is to help local families through counselling and other support services.

At the end of the promotion, WLBL DBC will provide NEMO with a cheque which will support them in assisting local families who are in need at this time. The Piton Malta Nourishing Futures Campaign is committed to providing support to local families through trusted partnerships with the SSDF, NEMO and Massy Stores in 2020 and beyond.
