Platinum FC third in Region

St Lucia’s Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals champions of 2012 and 2013 Platinum FC finished third at the 2013 Regional Guinness Street Challenge finals in St Vincent and the Grenadines at the weekend.

In the Third Place Playoff they outplayed the St Kitts and Nevis representatives 4-1 with two goals from Kevin Edward and one each from Sheldon Emmanuel and Dwayne Charles. Last year Platinum FC finished fourth at the inaugural regional finals in Guyana.

The 2013 tournament was won by Trinidadian team “Hills have Eyes.’’ They defeated the Dominica representatives in the Finals on penalties, after the scores were locked 1-1 at regulation time.

In the semi-finals Dominica had defeated the St Lucian representatives Platinum FC 1-0, while Trinidad won over St Kitts and Nevis.

For their victory the Trinidadian team ‘’Hills have Eyes” took home a cool US$4,000. Platinum pocketed US$1,000 for their third place finish.

Next year’s Regional Finals will be held in Trinidad and Tobago.
